I am Yunhee Shim, a PhD Candidate (ABD) in Information and Library Science at Rutgers University.
My major research interests are platform governance, content moderation, and fairness, which fall in the fields of Social computing and HCI. My primary research interest focuses on online harm in platform particularly interpersonal harm, and strategies to mitigate it through moderation features. I’m also interested in the moderation features themselves, such as reporting and personal moderation, and how their affordances influence users’ perceptions, behaviors, and discourse formation in online environments.
Additionally, based on my prior experience as a librarian, I am also interested in the digital environment in libraries. How the digital environment will change library services, users’ experiences, and future digital library platform governance is another of my interests.
